This man and woman are suspected of stealing a pensioner's handbag in Maldon.

The victim, who is in her 80s, was shopping at Poundstretcher in High Street at about 12.30pm on December 10 when a man started talking to her.

While she was distracted, a woman took the handbag from her shopping trolley.

The handbag contained a three-figure sum of cash, glasses, a bank card and a bus pass.

Investigating officer Pc Alison King said: "This was a despicable theft by two suspects who deliberately targeted an elderly woman while she was shopping.

"We want to talk to the two people in the pictures because they were in the shop at the same time as the victim.

"They also left soon after the victim realised something was wrong.”
