A village pub has been put on the market by administrators.

The Ship, in Maldon Road, Tiptree, was being run by the Pubs ‘n’ Bars chain that went into administration in 2009 but the pub has continued to trade since then.

However Christie and Co has now been asked to put the pub, along with 19 others in the south east of England, onto the market.

The freehold for the pub is on offer for £345,000.

The pub is currently let at £37,000 per year and has a 20-year lease, that runs out in 2028.

Its current landlord has leased the pub since 2005 and it is understood will put in a bid to buy the premises.

The pub also includes a restaurant with room for 60 diners, plus parking for up to 40 cars.

Other pubs put up for sale by administrators Grant Thornton UK LLP, include the Royal Albion in Walton and Blue Boar in Southend.

The 20 pubs have a combined asking price of around £6.25million.

They are being offered for sale all together, in clusters, or individually.

John Grace, associate director of Christie and Co, said: “The pubs are in good locations with the potential for excellent trading. These pubs are certain to arouse the interest of both experienced investors and those seeking to gain a foothold in the sector.”
