A headteacher has expressed her delight after turning around the fortunes of a Maldon school.

Ofsted inspectors have officially rated Maldon Primary School in Wantz Road as “good” two years after it was categorised as just “satisfactory”.

The education watchdog rated the school good in every area, including the quality of teaching, the behaviour, safety and achievement of pupils, the leadership and management, as well as the overall effectiveness of the school, following an inspection at the start of last month.

Headteacher Tracey Thornton, who took up her post just four months after the last inspection, said she was “thrilled” with the report.
