The parents of three world-class Burnham sailors have spoken of their pride after the trio polled impressive positions in the world sailing championships in Australia.

Nicholas Sutton, 17, of Meadow Way, and Sam Barr, 17, and Ben Barr, 12, competed against sailors from across the world last month after excelling in the national championships in Torquay.

Nicholas’s brother Joshua Bennett also qualified, but did not go.

The trio spent weeks battling against the best the world can offer in Hobart, Tasmania, in the International Cadet Class World Championships.

Nicholas, partnered with Scarlett Anderson, came an impressive 15th out of 49 positions.

Brothers Sam and Ben came 29th.

Cheryl Bennett, 51, mum to Nicholas and Joshua, said: “I think Nick would have liked to have done a bit better but it is still a great result. At the end of the day he made it into the team."
