Crime in Maldon dropped by 20 per cent but rose in Burnham, according to new statistics.

The most up-to-date figures on the Home Office crime map records revealed overall crime in the Maldon town area, including parts of Heybridge, fell from 182 crimes in October to 106 crimes in November. A

nti-social behaviour, vehicle crime, criminal damage and arson, and violent crime all dropped in the month.

But the amount of burglaries increased in the town, climbing from 10 incidents to 16.

Shoplifting had also increased, with seven thefts from Tesco in Fullbridge.

The supermarket had the most crime incidents than any other part of Maldon, including the High Street.

However it was a different picture for Burnham, where crime rose in November.
