A controversial proposal for 260 new homes in Burnham, has sparked fresh fears among residents of over development.
Boyer Planning’s proposal for a 14.8 hectare site, north of Maldon Road, is outside Maldon District Council’s Local Development Plan process, which has already earmarked 450 homes for the west of Burnham.
Boyer Planning’s proposal, which includes accommodation for the elderly as part of the 260 dwellings, as well as potential small scale retail units, could therefore bring the total of new homes in Burnham to 710.
While no planning application has yet been submitted, it is thought that only half of the Boyer Planning site will be built upon, leaving the other half undeveloped.
