District: How can you avoid wasting food?
9:00am Saturday 19th January 2013 in Local News
A MASSIVE 1,132,420kg of food waste has been recycled in Maldon over the last ten months.
The waste, equivalent to the weight of over 300 fully grown African elephants, has been collected up and recycled as part of Maldon District Council’s food waste collection scheme.
The news comes after it was announced last week in a report by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers that Britons throw away over half their food, wasting £480 a year in the process.
