BUSINESS crime will be on the menu when the county’s top cop and the man responsible for overseeing Essex Police speak to traders at a breakfast meeting.

Nick Alston CBE, the Essex Police and Crime Commissioner, and Essex Police Chief Constable Jim Barker McCardle will be talking to local businesses at the first Essex Chambers of Commerce Business breakfast of 2013 later this month.

They will talk about reducing crime and disorder, give a financial update to those attending and discuss how the police can work closer with local businesses to tackle business crime.

There will also be an opportunity for business owners to ask questions and raise their views.

The event will be held in the Lord Ashcroft Building, at Anglia Ruskin University, in Chelmsford, on Monday, January 28, from 7.30am to 9.30am.

Denise Rossiter, chief executive of Essex Chambers of Commerce, said: “We are keen to support Nick with his objectives representing the business sector.

“It is extremely important that the views of businesses are listened to and acted upon.

“Business crime costs the UK economy over £19billion a year, figures which have crept upwards as the British economy has experienced the tough economic climate.”
