A couple have made a desperate plea for the return of £500 worth of stolen Christmas presents.

The wrapped up presents had been left on the back seat of a car in Coleridge Road, Maldon, when one of the vehicle’s windows was broken and the gifts were stolen.

Postal worker Amanda Scrivener, 49, and Ben Bhattacharya, 47, had been planning to take the gifts down to Ms Scrivener’s four grandchildren in Southminster, but they delayed their trip on Boxing Day because the grandchildren fell ill.

Ms Scrivener said: “I know it was complete stupidity to leave the presents in the car."

If you can help with the police investigation, call 101.
