Burnham: Coastguard call out to snoozing yacht owner Burnham: Coastguard call out to snoozing yacht owner

A snoozing yacht owner became the centre of a coastguard operation on Sunday.

The South Woodham Ferrers coastguard team and two Burnham RNLI lifeboats were tasked to check on the owner of the Shearwater yacht which was drifting in the River Crouch, after concerns were raised by other yachtsmen.

The owner had last been sighted two hours earlier.

Coastguard teams found the owner, who had been asleep, safe and well.

The yacht was recovered safely and returned back to Fambridge marina.
