Residents and traders have spoken of their shock and disgust after vandals went on a wrecking rampage, causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage.
A gang of men smashed parked vehicles and damaged shop signs, fences and other items in Burnham’s High Street and Station Road at around 1.45am on Christmas Day.
They also allegedly pulled Christmas lights down from trees and trailed them along the road.
A shocked Station Road resident, who did not want to be named, witnessed the damage and described the vandals as “demented”.
She said: “I was just going to bed when I heard them shouting at two in the morning.
“They were like mad people, it was as if they were demented."
