A care home manager has spoken of her shock after an employee was discovered stealing from vulnerable residents.
Sandra Thompson, 53, of Hillary Close, Heybridge, stole more than £100 worth of items and cash from two women while they were asleep in a Maldon care home.
At Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court, she was sentenced to 17 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.
Chairman of the bench Revd Geoffrey Smith described her actions as “a very serious breach of trust”.
Following the case, Sue Hibbard, manager at Hailey House residential care home in Highlands Drive, said: “She was here for quite a long time, in a way that makes it even worse because she was trusted.”
