In the run up to Christmas, people need to be extra vigilant to make sure their Christmas gifts and presents stay safe over the festive period.
Essex Police crime reduction officer Stephen Armson-Smith visits at least seven homes per week to give homeowners advice and tips to improve safety in their homes.
During his 30 year career as a police officer, 20 of which were as a scenes of crime officer, he has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience.
He tries to write to every burglary victim in his area with crime prevention tips and conducts home visits to give specific advice for individual houses.
