A foreign boat has destroyed a jetty in Burnham.
The mussel dredger, named Dei Gratia, Latin for By the Grace of God, is thought to be from Yerseke, in the Netherlands.
People living nearby said the vessel tied up to the jetty outside the Ye Olde White Harte Hotel on Thursday morning, slid down the mud and ripped it from the Quay wall.
Retired Derek Corless, 77, heard the accident happen in the night from a house in the Quay.
He said: “It happened right outside at about five in the morning.
“I heard a thumping and banging but I didn’t get up."
