Bradwell: Simon wins engineer of the year award
A mechanical engineer at Bradwell’s nucleur power station has won a national award.
Simon Pykett won the Young Design Engineer of the Year at the British Engineering Excellence Awards 2012 for his work designing specialist equipment for decommissioning nuclear power stations.
Mr Pykett has helped manage radioactive waste left over from when Bradwell was generating electricity.
Mike Gull, Bradwell’s Site Director, said: “We’re delighted to have Simon working to help us decommission Bradwell site and deliver it into a state of care and maintenance.
“Magnox is always looking for innovative solutions and fresh approaches to managing radioactive waste which can safely deliver greater value for the UK taxpayer.”
