Motorists suffered delays of 30 minutes after a four-car crash on the A12 yesterday evening.
The accident happened shortly before 4.40pm on the northbound carriageway between the Witham exits at junctions 21 and 22.
Fire crews from Witham and Tiptree went to the scene, made the vehicles safe and cleared up a fuel spillage.
No-one was trapped but traffic queued back as far as Boreham.
