District: Cyclists speak of abuse on district's roads
8:00am Tuesday 20th November 2012 in Local News
Peter Hardiman has been a victim of motorists' abuse.
Concerned cyclists have spoken of abuse from Maldon district drivers in the wake of Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins’ recent collision.
Last Wednesday, cyclist Peter Hardiman, 60, was riding along the Dengie straight coming out of Latchingdon when a maroon Peugeot driver sped past him honking the horn.
Mr Hardiman, who is the Maldon and District Cycling Club competition secretary, also had to dodge a bottle that was hurled at him.
He said: “If I had hit the bottle, it would have thrown me straight off the bike.
“Unfortunately you get that sort of thing all the time."

That said cyclists round here can be really annoying and selfish when in groups spread over the road blocking traffic.
