Police faced one of their more unusual call outs last Monday after reports of an eight-year-old boy carrying a toy gun in Latchingdon.

Sgt Perry Land said officers had been called at about 9.30am and when attending confirmed it was a plastic toy and offered advice to the boy’s parents about carrying it in public.

He emphasised that no crime was committed.

He added: "This was a very minor matter of giving advice to school children.

"On a daily basis police get asked to advise on a variety of issues, not all of which are crimes."
