Maldon's MP is calling for a national launch of superfast broadband to be delayed, after it emerged millions of homes will suffer interference to their TV signals.
The national launch of 4G mobile phone networks will also mean hundreds of homes will lose TV signal altogether, it has been claimed.
Many homes can use a filter to block the signals, which could force images to be distorted and channels to be lost.
Concerned John Whittingdale is now calling for local tests to be conducted before the national launch of the superfast broadband early next year.
He said: “There may well be a case for a trial in order to get precise figures for exactly which households will suffer interference and to what extent that interference is a serious problem.
“Another issue is whether the filters will work properly, and it would help if they too could be tested in a trial.”
