Dengie: Plea for increased police patrols after cannabis factories discovered
11:00am Wednesday 14th November 2012 in Local News By Emma Robinson
Inspector Chris Kilgallen, of Maldon Police, with some of the cannabis plants that were seized in recent raids.
Calls have been made for a heightened police presence after the discovery of two cannabis factories.
Police discovered 160 cannabis plants had already been harvested in a raid in an industrial estate in Latchingdon on Saturday.
The following morning police then raided a residence in Maylandsea, seizing 60 cannabis plants and arresting a man.
Police do not believe the two cannabis factories are linked.
Cllr Bob Boyce has now called for more police to patrol the Dengie to stop the growth of more cannabis factories.
He said: “I am always concerned about this sort of thing happening on my doorstep."

yes let's waste more time, money and resources on a war that cannot be won, ever, under any circumstance! did prohibition stop alcohol in America? Even Amercan states are changing their stance on cannabis now. The only lesson we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.
Compare us to other European countries instead. Even Holland isn't as liberal about drugs as you might think.

"The whole fight against crime is a war that cannot be won"
This sentence in your post encapsulates the whole issue. In short, the definition of what and what is not a crime. Murder = crime, robbery = crime, growing a plant= not a crime, or shouldn't be imho.
The comparison with America was used as they have tried prohibition and failed. I have been to many countries in Europe and I say from first hand experience that using cannabis in public is far more relaxed than you would think as long as you are sensible and don't sit in the supermarket cafe smoking. As for the Netherlands, Amsterdam being the obvious place, they have just stopped a ban on a ban for foreign visitors in their coffee shops.

Like it or not, just like murder, robbery etc. cultivating and illegal substance is a crime so accept it or stand for Parliament and get it changed. Don't forget some of the most dangerous Class A drugs are from plants - cocaine (coca plant leaf), heroin and other opiates (opium poppy). I take it you include those in your legal cultivation dream.

Yes.
Yet again dealers taken out of the equation.
The law can be an ****, formed by outdated, ill informed moral outrage learnt from a tabloid..
