Work is underway to repair a seawall in Maylandsea.

The Environment Agency began work to fix sinking slabs on a 200-metre section of the seawall on Sea View Parade on Monday.

A temporary footpath diversion is in place along the parade while the work, which is expected to take a month, is being completed.

David Knagg, operations manager at the Environment Agency, said: “The repair of the wall will ensure it is in the best possible condition to protect the people and 126 properties in Maylandsea from tidal flooding.

“The removal of the damaged concrete will also ensure that this popular walk can continue to be enjoyed safely by all the community.”
