Burnham has been dealt a bitter blow after losing out on 25 potential new jobs.

A managing director has spoken of his disappointment after missing out on a £60,000 grant from the East of England Development Agency, which could have secured much-needed local employement.

David Aldridge, of Immersive Display Group on the Wick Road Business Park, said the grant refusal forced his firm into partnership with a Scottish company, meaning jobs originally destined for Burnham were now being created more than 400 miles away. 

Jobseeker Jack Powell, who has been unemployed ever since his two-year-old daughter was born, said: “It’s hard enough for me and others to get a job around here."
