Maldon: Stroke club welcomes new members
5:00pm Friday 26th October 2012 in Local News
Retired childminder Barbara Witham woke up one morning and fell down the stairs.
She lay there paralysed for two hours, unable to reach the phone.
Mrs Witham, 64, had suffered a stroke - her second in fact, with her first going unnoticed because it had been a minor stroke.
But three years on, Mrs Witham has made a good recovery and now
wants to raise awareness of the volunteer-run Maldon and Dengie Stroke
Support Group, which recently celebrated its third birthday and is welcoming new
members.
*The Maldon and Dengie Stroke Support Group meets fortnightly on a Thursday morning at Fullbridge church in Maldon from 10.30am until 12 noon.
Meetings start with a half hour exercise session led by a specialist neuro physiotherapist, followed by refreshments and a speaker or social activity.
