Southminster: Giving up the ghost on Halloween treat

Cllr Peter Elliott Cllr Peter Elliott

A Maldon district councillor has said that Southminster’s special halloween celebration has “run it’s course”.

Councillor Peter Elliott made his claim at last week’s Burnham Town Council meeting, when they were deciding on how much money they should grant to Southminster’s Party in the Park.

It comes after the event, which has ran for seven years, stopped it’s evening celebrations, which were aimed at teenagers.

Mr Elliot said at the meeting: “The teenagers aren’t coming any more and that’s what it was originally used for.”

The Party in the Park was set up in 2005 to stop anti-social behaviour at nights around Halloween.
