Maldon/Heybridge: Residents call for end to parking nightmare Maldon/Heybridge: Residents call for end to parking nightmare

FUMING Maldon and Heybridge residents are calling for action over nightmare school congestion.

Residents claim the volume of traffic to both Maldon Primary School and Heybridge Primary School is making their lives a misery.

They are fed up with parents’ cars blocking driveways and causing gridlock – and they fear it will only be a matter of time before a child is knocked over in the school  rush.

Paul Tilley, 49, of Rowan Drive, Heybridge, said: “They are just parking anywhere to get their kids into the school.

“It’s a free-for-all.”

Seeing as there is a parking problem near the schools, perhaps the parents could park in a residential area away from the school and walk their children to school.

What? And make their poor little treasures walk for 5 minutes? And of course the parents would then have to walk back again, that's 20 minutes a day, nearly 2 hours a week!

How do you expect me to afford this 4x4 when I spend all day walking up and down the streets all day? Outrageous!

I can't believe you only mention those two schools. I live near viking academy (wentworth) and it's just as bad round here. there parking so many meters form a corner doesn't seem to apply as they park on a bend on cumberland av and viking road. The congestion is horrendous as it is a blind corner. The poor bus drivers must hate it as I have regularly seen them struggle. It has got so bad that I try not to go out now or come back at that time of day.
