A MAN from Chelmsford has been charged with stealing an ambulance.
The theft happened in north London while paramedics were dealing with an emergency.
The London Ambulance Service vehicle was stolen in the early hours of Sunday November 13 outside a property in Well Street, Hackney.
An hour later, it was tracked down in Seventh Avenue, Chelmsford.
A 34-year-old man from the town has since been charged with theft of the vehicle along with one count of failing to provide a specimen of breath.
He has also been charged with one count of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and one count of being in possession of a Class B drug.
He has been released on police bail and will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Friday December 16.
