A GROUP that supports the homeless is raising funds towards its next big project.
Dedicated volunteers from the Chelmsford Seventh Day Adventist Church, who run a Sunday food kitchen for the homeless, were in the town's high street on Saturday August 02, to promote the group's activities and future plans.
As organisers of a successful kitchen for homeless people, the group is hoping to expand its operation next year and is currently looking for a suitable larger premises and raising funds.
Every Sunday the church in Roman Road, Chelmsford, opens its doors to the homeless between midday and 2pm, feeding people and offering them clothing when possible.
Chipema Chitambala, who organises the group, said: "Some people couldn't believe that we have had over 100 different people on our register of names, some people have put their names forward to help us, which is really good."
She added that the group was looking at a number of options for relocating its service to another building, including renting or renovating a property.
