A MAN has died following reports of a person being found in the sea.

Emergency services rushed to Lower Marine Parade, in Harwich, yesterday afternoon but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are treating the death of the 69-year-old as unexplained but say the circumstances are not believed to be suspicious.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Emergency services were contacted shortly before 1.55pm on Friday, May 18, with reports a man had been found in the sea near Lower Marine Parade.

“Sadly the 69-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“His death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.

“A file is being prepared for the coroner.”
