A traffic operation held in Chelmsford saw ten cars taken off the road.

Officers from our Casualty Reduction Section held a dedicated operation on Chelmer Village Way in Chelmsford on Wednesday.

The operation was intended to reduce the number of people killed and seriously injured on the road by using a combination of engagement and enforcement.

Ten vehicles were seized throughout the operation, seven of those were uninsured and were seized under Section 165.

The other three vehicles were seized after it was found the drivers were driving without a valid licence.

Seventeen drivers were found to be driving without a valid MOT and one driver was dealt with for driving their car in a dangerous condition.

Two drivers were dealt with because the text on their number plates didn’t meet legal requirements.

Sixteen drivers were dealt with for failing to wear a seatbelt.

A further 12 drivers were found to be driving while using their mobile phone. Each driver was given six points and a fine.

Three HGV drivers were issued fines for driving without an operator licence and another HGV driver received a fine for driving with an overweight vehicle.
