HAIRDRESSERS showed they were a cut above the rest after they scooped an award each at a prestigious competitoin.

Staff at Alter Ego Hair Design in Colchester claimed the two prizes in the Central/Joshua Galvin Photographic competition grand finals held in London.

The annual competition sees apprentice stylists from across London and the South East put forward for a variety of awards.

All three of Alter Ego’s apprentices made it to this year’s finals, however, it was Chloe Zivanovic-Paramor and Daryl Lonergan who prevailed and picked up an award apiece.

Chloe, 20, won the Avent Garde level two category for her highly creative and technical skill.

Daryl, 23, meanwhile won the prestigious Joshua Galvin cup for her passion, enthusiasm and commitment.

After claiming the award, Daryl said: “It is such an honour to receive the cup and it means so much to me.

“My career has only been made possible by the support, training and help I have got from both Alter Ego and Central Hairdressing Academy.

“It’s just such a good feeling to get this cup.”

Speaking about her prize, Chloe added: “Working on projects outside the salon is brilliant for developing a creative repertoire and it’s a chance for my work to be seen by a wider audience.”
