A shop supervisor has told of how of the "horrible" experience she endured after a watch was stolen from the jewellery store she worked in that left her "crying for four hours straight."

Georgie Newell, 20, from Maldon, who is a supervisor at Charles Fish jewellery store on Chelmsford High Street, spoke of an incident where a £20,000 watch was the stolen from the store she worked in.

She said: "I was showing a gentleman a Rolex watch when three other gentlemen entered the store and one of them just snatched the watch out of his hand and ran off.

"The gentleman who I was showing the watch then stood outside looking confused but it was definitely part of the game."

Managing director at the store, Richard Fish, took photos of the man standing outside the store and then chased him when he ran off.

Miss Newell added: "Richard was outside the shop and he was taking pictures of the gentleman's face. He then said 'what are you doing', put his hand over his own face and ran off.

"Richard chased him down the road but he didn't catch him. He asked a man if he had seen a man who looked like the one in the photo he took and the guy said that he saw that person meet with three others down the road."

The incident left Miss Newell shocked and in tears for the rest of the day.

She said: "It was horrible, I've never had to go through anything like that before. I was crying for four hours straight."

Essex Police put out an appeal following the robbery, which happened at around 2.30pm on Thursday, August 24.
