ONE of the leading lights behind the building of a school has had a plaque unveiled in her memory.
Sarah Candy, former county councillor, played a huge role in securing a new state of the art building for pupils at Market Field School in Elmstead Market.
The school, for pupils with special educational needs, was forever expanding and Sarah fought as part of a 10-year campaign to get pupils and staff a bigger premises.
She sadly died from cancer and to say thank you for her support, the school unvieled a memorial plaque.
Headteacher Gary Smith said: “She was brilliant, and it was such a shame she passed away without seeing the fruit of what she enabled us to do.
“It’s a way of remembering her and thanking her.”
The plaque is part of a sensory garden and quiet area.
