A STRUGGLING mum desperate to see her son walk has been given a helping hand by a property firm.

Harvey O’Shea Potter, seven, has had private physiotherapy to support his mobility for the last three years.

He was diagnosed with quadriplegic spastic cerebral palsy shortly after birth due to brain damage which has a greater impact on the left side of his body.

This includes severe visual impairment.

Charlotte Potter, 26, has been tirelessly fundraising for her wheelchair bound son Harvey.

The mum, from Coggeshall, has raised £18,000 to-date but now Persimmon Homes Essex has stepped in with a welcomed £1,000 donation.

The money will help cover the cost of spider therapy at Kids Physio Works, in Copford, to strengthen Harvey’s muscles and co-ordination.

She said: “We’re thrilled to be awarded this generous donation as it helps raise vital funds for Harvey’s physio.

“Since starting therapy he’s beginning to sit up unaided and takes steps with assistance when he wasn’t able to do that before.

“It’s given him more control over his body and he’s starting to say a few words now.

“To see him on a treadmill during his physio is something I didn’t think would happen.”

In August 2015, Miss Potter undertook a 15,000ft skydive.

Last November she walked on hot coals.

Her next endeavour is a charity ball on September 23 at Chelmsford City Racecourse.

She said:”I’m willing to take on any challenge for my little man but now I’m beginning to struggle.

“This is why Persimmon’s grant is so important to Harvey.

“One day we’re hoping to achieve his dream of walking.”

Applications asking for the firm’s help are submitted from across Essex with 60 donations of up to £1,000 given out each month.

Emma Hawkins, head of sales, said: “Backing causes in the areas in which we build is very important to us and we can see Harvey is a true community champion.

“We wish him all the best with his sessions and on his wish to walk.
