• A MAN has denied being in the driver’s seat when a car crashed in West Mersea.

Jack Goldring was charged with three alleged driving offences and denied them all at Colchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

He is accused of driving while unfit through drink.

It is alleged on December 3 he was driving a Ford Fiesta on Dawes Lane, West Mersea, when it crashed.

He later tested with 84 microgrammes of alcohol in his system per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit to drive is 35mg.

Goldring, 23, of East Road, East Mersea, insisted he was not driving.

He is also accused of failing to stop at the scene of an incident or failing to report the incident, which would only be his responsibility if he was driving.

Goldring faces trial at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on March 31.

  • TWO suspected drug dealers have been accused of travelling to Braintree to provide cocaine and heroin on the streets.

Darren Lewin, 21, of Wakering Road, Barking and Katakyie Addae-Kodua, 25, of Chaucer Road, London, both appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Both were charged with one count of possession with intent to supply cocaine and another of possession with intent to supply heroin.

It is alleged they were caught in possession of the drugs in Braintree on November 29 last year.

Formal pleas will be entered at a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on March 21.

Both were released on bail.

  • A MAN has denied assaulting a woman on two occasions but admitted breaking a mirror.

Daniel Gardener-McLean appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The 22-year-old, of St Osyth Road, Little Clacton, admitted one count of criminal damage committed on January 21.

He denied one count of common assault on the same day and another of common assault on November 5, both allegedly in Clacton. A trial will be held at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on March 31.

  • TWO men have denied inviting a victim around to a house to attack him with pliers.

Wayne Johnston has been charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

It is alleged he attacked Vasilly Galina-De-Barros at his house in Harwich on July 31.

Johnston, 50, of Stour Road, Harwich, denies the charge.

Trevain Fredericks, 30, of Walpole Road, London, was also charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm which he also denies.

Stephen Sparkes, prosecuting, said: “It is alleged the victim has been struck to the head with a weapon, pliers. He had lacerations to the back of his head.”

A plea hearing will be held at Ipswich Crown Court on March 21.

  • A WOMAN has denied assaulting a man and damaging a car on Christmas Day.

Danielle Isaac, 21, of Martin End, Layer-De-La-Haye, Colchester, appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

It is alleged she assaulted a man in Colchester on December 25 and caused £200 criminal damage to the window of a Ford Fiesta.

Isaac will go on trial at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on March 3.

  • A MAN has denied grabbing a woman by the throat after he was confronted about using her bank card to buy beer.

Jamie Harris denied one count of assault by beating when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

It is alleged the 27-year-old, of Trinity Court, Halstead, carried out the attack on November 6 in Halstead.

A trial will be held at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on March 3.
