A TV show featuring Maldon’s waterfront and world famous Mud Race will air tonight.

TV star Robson Green got stuck in the mud when he was filmed completing Maldon’s iconic Mud Race for Tales from the Coast.

The show, which was filmed in April last year, is set to be shown on Tuesday in the final episode in the four-part series.

Green, famed for his roles in shows such as Waterloo Road, Granchester and Casualty, was filmed in Promenade Park before taking to the Blackwater Estuary to take on the mud.

He later enjoyed a trip to Clacton, riding down the seafront on a scooter as part of the episode which visits Essex and Suffolk.

Speaking about taking on the Mud Race, Robson said: “That’s the hardest workout I’ve ever done, it just zaps you of your strength, oh my goodness.”

Green, who travelled 100 miles from the Thames Estuary to Southwold in the episode, described the East of England coastline as “filled with surprises”.

He said: “It’s one of our most varied coastal landscapes, from classic seaside towns and busy harbours, to vast shingle spits.

“I’ve travelled to the very edges of Britain, visited some beautiful places, met fascinating people and done things I never thought I would do.

“Along the way I’ve learned how our coastline shapes the way we work.”

Tales from the Coast with Robson Green will air at 8pm on ITV.
