ALISA Hafizal nervously opened her results envelope live from the other side the world, in front of a group of pals.

The 16-year-old took her GCSEs at Colchester Academy before moving to Malaysia with her parents because of their jobs.

At the school, pal Tiffany Adepoju took a FaceTime call on her mobile phone from Alisa 6,500 miles away.

After a long pause, tears could be heard before Alisa finally managed to tell her friends, who had gathered around the phone, how she had done.

“I got straight A’s!” she said.

Teachers gathered around the call to wish Alisa well and offer her their congratulations.

During the call, she compared who had the hottest summer, telling friends it was 37 degrees-celsius in Malaysia.

She will now study her A-levels for the next two years at a college in the Penang state.

The aspiring doctor was sad not to have been at the school to get her results in person.

“I wish I was there,” she added.

Fiona Pierson, principal at Colchester Academy, said of the school’s results:

“We are delighted with the progress that has been made with our students and we are incredibly proud of their results. This is an exciting time for students and staff at Colchester Academy.”

The school was taken over by the Bright Tribe Trust earlier this year.
