NOSTALGIA filled Asda’s Colchester store as customers walked in on staff dressed for a 1940s tea party.

The Strawberry Tea was organised by the store’s community champion, Simon Sirkin, in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

The store went back in time with jive dancers and a swing band raising £500 for the charity.

There was also a a cake decorating competition for customers judged by the Colchester Women’s Institute with prizes from the Tiptree Jam Factory.

A family trip to a Pick-Your-Own strawberry farm was also up for grabs.

Mr Sirkin said the team had an amazing time raising awareness and funds.

He said: “We had a fabulous response from customers and the community, who were delighted to spend their time supporting such a fantastic cause.

“Whether it’s you and a few friends in the garden, a family tea party, or even a strawberry bake sale at your workplace or school, this is a great excuse to get together, host a Strawberry Tea event and make a massive difference.”

Breast Cancer Care is the only UK-wide charity which helps anyone affected by breast cancer including men, women, family and friends.

Throughout June, July and August, proceeds from the Strawberry Tea campaign will fund this support.
