Train lines between Colchester and Ipswich are now open. 

A Greater Anglia spokeswoman said the majority of scheduled trains will run during the evening peak, but five trains have already been cancelled.

They are:

3pm London Liverpool Street to Norwich

4pm Colchester Town to Colchester

5.37pm London Liverpool Street to Cambridge

5.39pm London Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport

11.05pm Norwich to Ipswich 

A British Transport Police spokesman said officers attended an incident at Parsons Heath rail bridge, in Colchester after reports of a person being struck by a train at 8.51am.

He added: "A person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers will now look to establish the person’s identity and identify the person’s family.

"The incident is currently being treated as unexplained."

TRAIN lines between Colchester and Ipswich are blocked after an incident on the line.

Operator Greater Anglia is warning of severe disruption on the line after an incident near to the railway bridge at St John's Road, Colchester. 

Disruption is expected until 12pm. 

An East of England Ambulance Service Trust spokesman said one ambulance crew was sent to the scene shortly before 8.55am.

The crew was joined by an air ambulance critical care car and a hazardous area response team. 

The first train to be affected by the incidents was the 8.11am service from Stowmarket to London Liverpool Street. 

All trains going from Liverpool Street to Norwich will terminate at Colchester. 

Trains coming from Norwich towards London will terminate at Ipswich. 

Greater Anglia tickets from Ipswich and Norwich to London are valid for travel via Cambridge, to London Liverpool Street using Greater Anglia trains or Great Northern trains to London Kings Cross.

A limited rail replacement bus service, operated by Panther Travel, New Horizon and J&R Travel will run a shuttle service between Colchester and Ipswich.

Buses are expected to be at both locations by about 10am.
