FINAL preparations are underway for this year’s Hospital Radio Colchester Fun Day, which takes place on Monday.

The Fun Day in Lower Castle Park has been a regular event for many years and is a major fundraiser for Hospital Radio Colchester.

Among the attractions at the event is a music stage with country star Steve Cherelle and Friends (the voice of Country on BBC Local Radio for the South East).

The large main arena has events throughout the day including: Tendring Dog Agility Group, Magic Iain magic show, Thurstable School Cheerleaders, Hospital Radio Colchester Roadshow, children's games and much more.

There will be funfair rides, bouncy castles, go-karts, donkey rides and lots of stalls from many charities.

Entry to the event, which opens at 11am and runs until 4.30pm, is £3 for adults, with accompanied children free.

There is a large free car park off Cowdray Avenue.

Hospital Radio Colchester Station Manager Andy Patrick said: “This is our main fundraising event of the year and we’re hoping for some good weather on the day. Our aim is to provide a great value day out for all the family and this year we have plenty of things to do and see for all the family. It’s always great to see the park packed with families from Colchester and the surrounding area.”

Staffed entirely by volunteers, Hospital Radio Colchester broadcasts to patients at Colchester General Hospital.
