A CAR erupted into flames in a Clacton street after an arson attack.

The Ford Fiesta was parked in Holland Road when it burst into flames on Monday night.

Nearby residents called the fire brigade after seeing the fire grow quickly, while an onlooker also managed to capture a video of the incident.

A loud bang can be heard as the blaze tears through the vehicle, while the flames reach several metres into the air and thick smoke billows from the wreckage.

A crew was sent out from Clacton fire station and firefighters stood well back as they doused the fire with a hose jet.

The fire started at about 9.20pm and it took the crew 15 minutes to bring it under control, leaving the burnt out shell of the car.

It had been parked by the kerb in the road and reportedly already had a police aware sign on it.

A fire service spokesman said the blaze has been recorded as deliberate by investigators.
