VISITORS and patients at Broomfield Hospital can now listen to its radio station in two of its shops after a donation from Maplins.

The Chelmsford branch of the electronics specialist store has donated two internet radios to the hospital radio station.

The Hama DIR3100 Wi-Fi Internet Radios will broadcast the show to the public in two of the shops at the hospital.

Hospital Radio Chelmsford has provided radio broadcasting to patients since 1964 and now, since 2014, can be listened to outside the hospital, on-line.

Peter McNeillie, store manager at Maplin Chelmsford said: “At Maplin, we are always keen to help the community and we are delighted to be able to help such a fantastic group of volunteers, who dedicate so much time in helping and entertaining the people in Broomfield Hospital.”

A Hospital Radio spokesman said: “We want to entertain everyone in the hospital, whether patients of visitors, therefore Maplin have come to the rescue by donating these top of the range radios.

“We are funded completely through donations from the public – thanks must go to Maplin for being so generous as we continue entertain those who need it the most.”
