A GROUP of 15 teenagers from Colchester took part in a sponsored stationary bike ride in aid of Colchester and Tendring Youth Enquiry Service.
The team was among more than 700 young people from across the country who took part in the National Citizen Service programme, which encourages youngsters to plan projects to help their communities.
Clarice Cheek, one of the Colchester youngsters taking part, said: “The National Citizen Service has changed our lives and made us so much more confident.
“It has given us the opportunity to make more friends and build our communication skills.
“We would recommend the service to anyone, as it is a great learning experience and prepares you for the real world.”
The group of 16 and 17-year-olds were in the final week of a four week programme and raised more than £250, “cycling” 180 miles between them.
Colchester and Tendring Youth Enquiry Service offers advice on a wide range of subjects for people aged between 11 and 25, helping more than 2,000 young people a year.
