An elderly woman is in critical condition after falling from a multi-storey car park in Chelmsford.

Police were called to Bellmead, in Chelmsford, just before 2pm yesterday where they found a woman in her 80s, who is believed to have fallen from the High Chelmer multi-storey car park.

The woman was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital with serious injuries, consistent with a fall from a height, where she remains in a critical condition.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We received a call at just after 2pm yesterday to a report of an elderly woman who had fallen from a height in Bellmead.

"An ambulance crew, ambulance officer and the Essex Air Ambulance attended.

"They treated the patient at the scene before being airlifted to the Royal London Hospital in a critical condition."

Essex Police will not be taking any further action as there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

The woman is the second person to fall from the car park in less than two weeks.

Another woman, in her 40s, was left fighting for her life and airlifted to hospital in a critical condition on April 16, after she was found in Victoria Road.

She was also taken to the Royal London Hospital.

Police are taking no further action as it in not believed there are any suspicious circumstances.”
