A GIRL of 10 ran a charity cake stall to raise £100 for her local children’s hospice.

Mia Fennell, from South Woodham Ferrers, presented a cheque to Little Havens Hospice after baking and selling cakes for her very own stall. The young fundraiser held her cake sale on during a family fun day in South Woodham Ferrers after baking the cakes with her family.

Mia said: “I wanted to do something in the summer holidays that would be fun but could also help people. I chose Little Havens because the charity makes a real difference to children's lives and I wanted to play a small part in helping too.

“I have never done anything like this before, so I spent a lot of the holidays planning. I chose to have a cake stall as I thought that lots of people like cakes, including me. I always make cakes at home with my mum, so I had a good idea of recipes that I wanted to use.”

Peter Hall, Community Fundraiser for Little Havens Hospice, said, “Mia must be one of our youngest fundraisers and we are all so proud of her.

“It is so kind of Mia to think about other children her age who are cared for by Little Havens and to put so much work into raising money for them."

Little Havens Hospice cares for seriously ill babies, children and teenagers from across Essex, and their families, by helping to control pain and medication, offering respite and caring for children at the end of their lives.
