JOYRIDERS stole a mobility scooter from a woman and took it for a trip around Tiptree.

Christine Frost, 76, who is affectionately known as “Gangster Granny”, noticed the scooter had gone from her shed in Elwin Road.

It was found, dumped and in need of repair, in the Asda car park in Church Road.

Mrs Frost describes the scooter as a lifeline.

She said: “It beggars belief someone would do this.

“I use it to go to the clinic and to the shops.

“I’m waiting to go into hospital for an operation on my leg and I don’t knowwhat I’m going to do.”

Mrs Frost suffers from diabetes and has problems with her legs.

Teenagers were seen riding around on the blue Legend Classic mobilty scooter on Sunday night.

Anyone with information should call Colchester police on 101.
