COMIC book stars are preparing to invade Colchester for a charity fundraising day.

Invasion Colchester, which is now in its fourth year, will see about 100 characters meet in the town centre on Saturday in aid of St Helena Hospice and the Colchester Hospital Charity.

This year’s event is set to be bigger than ever, with activities spreading to Culver Square and the Odeon cinema.

Another new addition to this year’s event is a 35ft-tall Stay Puft MarshallowMan.

Visitors will be able to go on a character hunt around the town, have a zombie makeover by a make-up artist and enter a number of competitions.

Kerrie Williams, one of the organisers, said: “I’m really looking forward to it.

“I can’t believe it’s been going for four years.

“It has gone from strength to strength.

“It is going to be organised chaos.”
