ARMED police have raided a cannabis factory in Copford.

Officers discovered what is believed to be about 150 cannabis plants inside an industrial unit off London Road.

The unit, which is behind Wass’s Fishing Tackle and Nevada Bob’s Golf, but has no connection with either, was raided this afternoon.

It is understood it had been rented out six months previously and was supposed to have been used as a wedding event warehouse.

Police, including armed and dog units, blocked the road before forcing their way inside.

The raid was part of a joint operation with Suffolk Police.

Armed police also raided a site in Grays.
