A GROUP of thugs surrounded a woman and threatened to stab her unless she handed over her belongings.

The victim, 35, was walking along Fernlea Road in Harwich on Friday night when she was approached by the gang.

Six men stopped her and demanded she hand over and belongings.

She refused and they threatened to stab her, but no weapon was seen.

The victim ran away from the scene and escape the robbers. Nothing was taken and she was unharmed, but left shaken by the incident.

It happened at about 9.30pm on Friday.

The victim was able to describe three of the attackers to police.

The first suspect is described as white, 20 years old, about 5ft 7ins tall, and was wearing a blue and white checked shirt with dark blue jeans.

Suspect two is described as white with black hair and a stud earring in his left ear. He is about 5ft 6ins tall and was wearing a distinctive black jacket with reflective stripes on both sleeves.

The third suspect is thought to be aged about 20 and was wearing a dark blue v-neck jumper with blue jeans.

Det Con Mo Crawley said: "This attempted robbery left the victim shaken.

ā€œIā€™m keen to speak to anyone who knows who is responsible or who might have seen these men run away. The victim saw them run in the direction of Alexandra Road.ā€
