ORGANISERS of the Colchester Half Marathon have chosen Headway Essex as the charity to benefit from next year’s race.

The 13.1-mile race has been held for the last four years in March and is organised by the Colchester Colne Round Table.

This year’s event, involving around 2,000 runners, raised £33,500 for the chosen charity, St Helena Hospice.

Matt Eaton, new chairman of the Colchester Colne Round Table, has chosen Headway Essex to benefit from all the group’s fundraising events for the next year.

He said: “I am delighted to be working alongside Headway Essex. When I met with them I was so impressed by their commitment and dedication to helping those that have acquired brain injury.

“At the end of the day, a life changing brain injury can happen to anyone of us and when it does, Headway offer a truly outstanding level of care and support.

“But they need all the fundraising assistance possible and I am truly proud that Colchester Colne Round Table will be supporting them this year.”

Colchester Colne Round Table will be putting on a series of new events this year, including a new business talent show and a black tie dinner to help raise much-needed funds for Headway.
