Callous thieves stole a car and hundreds of pounds worth of jewellery from a family on the same day of a relative’s funeral.

Over 50 items of gold jewellery and a green Vauxwagon Golf were stolen from a house in Franklin Road, North Fambridge on Thursday morning, between 7:30am and 1pm.

The theft occurred while nurse Karen Bache was at the funeral of her dad Cyril Lewis, 81, in New South Wales, Australia.

Her husband arrived home from his work as a farm advisor at around 1pm to see the house completely ransacked.
